Math Tutor Explains: Multiples of 1010

Our math tutors suggest that to get started with multiples, the easiest way is just to add a number to itself over and over again. For instance, if you want to find the multiples of 1010 using this method, you could start at 1010, and keep adding 1010 over and over: 1010, 2020, 3030, 4040, and so on. Each of these numbers is a multiple of 1010. Usually, this method works with numbers that are easily added to itself. As you get into larger numbers, it can become difficult to continue adding.

Another way to do this, as discussed above, is to use choose any number and multiply it by 1010. To find the first few multiples of 1010, you could just multiply the 1010 by 1, then 2, then 3, and so on, until you have as many multiples as you would like.

There are an endless number of multiples! You can keep using either of these methods to find as many multiples as you would like.

To find the first 10 multiples of 1010, let’s multiply in sequence from 1 to 10:

So, the first 10 multiples of 1010 are: 1010, 2020, 3030, 4040, 5050, 6060, 7070, 8080, 9090 and 10100.

• The smallest multiple of any number is itself.

• When you multiply two numbers together, the result is a multiple of both numbers.

• Every multiple of even numbers will also be even.

• The multiples of odd numbers, in sequence, alternate between odd and even numbers.

• You can also find the negative multiples of a number by multiplying by negative numbers.
